How to move your email to Gwork
In order to move over to the server I will need you to confirm your account information and/or contractual requirements, then I’ll give you access to the email management for your domain. The email management interface can be found or the right hand side of this page or by following this link.

You can then create accounts, mailboxes and aliases as you see fit. Then when you are ready to go live, point the MX records for your domain at the server. For example
mydomain.co.uk. 8600 IN MX 10 mail.gwork.org.

Mailscanner tools
How to get access to MailScanner tools for your email
At Gwork we use the excellent package MailWatch for MailScanner. This enables end users or administrators to get access to some of the following tools.
- Real time database driven information and statistics on email traffic including a record email headers of dangerous removed or quarantined email.
- A quarantine release tool to allow a user to safely “release” an email held back from delivery.
- White/Blacklisting of messages handled by the MailScanner. Please note there are filtering mechanisms that work outside of these controls.
- Custom filter driven report graphs on all recorded information held in the database.
- Per-user/Per-domain access level controls
We consider these tools to be for the advanced user and knowledge of email headers and delivery processing is advised but not essential. How to create and test email accounts in WebCyradm
At Gwork we use the web based interface WebCyradm to manage email addresses, aliases, accounts and mailboxes. Here are some quick examples on how to use this interface.
To access this interface first open this link in a new window

then enter the unique username and password specifically given to you to manage email accounts into the login box. If you are having problems logging on the email support@gwork.org. The first thing you will see is the list of email domains you have rights to administer, with a list of corresponding actions and a summary of the domains properties.
How to create a new mail account and mailbox
- Select the “accounts” action next to the domain which you wish to administer.
- You will then see a list of existing accounts. Click on “Add new account”.
- An account name will be generated, e.g. abc0001.
- Enter an email address, e.g. joe.blogs. You do not need to fill in the whole address, the @ sign and the domain will automatically appended.
- Then enter a password and confirm it again in the next box.
- And optionally set the mailbox storage quota.
- Then click submit. If the account was created successfully you should be able to start using this account immediately. Try logging into Horde webmail on the right of this page to test the account name and password, and perhaps test sending an email to the new account from an external address e.g. hotmail.
Mac Mail setup
How to setup Mac Mail on OSX to connect to IMAP and SMTP authenticated sending.
In Mail go to the Mail menu and “preferences”.
Under Accounts -> Account Information, click on the “Server Settings” button underneath the outgoing server.
Set the server name to mail.gwork.org.
Set the Server port to 465.
Give it your username and password.
Tick the box next to “Use Secure Sockets Layer (SSL)”.
Click OK
Then…
Click the Advanced tab.
Next to Port set 993 for IMAP and tick “Use SSL”.
Close preferences and quit Mail.
Then (this is important)…
Download the SSL gwork-ca cert from the gwork site and save
it to the desktop.
Double click the file to import it.
This should open “Keychain access”.
(If it doesn’t you can get to that app from the applications/utilities
folder. Go to File -> Import… Select the Gwork-CA.crt file on the
desktop and then do as above.)
(IMPORTANT) select the keychain X509Anchors from the drop down list
above the OK button.
Click OK and enter your OSX user account password if asked.
Open Mail again and go to the window menu and bring up the “Mail
Connection Doctor”. It should tell you if there’s a problem connecting
and why. Also you may want to test it by sending yourself an email.
You should now be able to send and receive mail.

Information such as server name and ports for accessing and sending email through GWork.
Notes on encryption
All encrypted channels are performed using an SSL certificate which has been generated specifically for the GWork service. You may receive certificate warning messages in your browser or mail client. Please see the following pages to download and install the GWork Certificate Authority.
POP3/IMAP4 – Email mailbox access.
Server Name: mail.gwork.org
POP3 and IMAP is available over TLS and SSL connections. You will need to use a a mail client that is capable of supporting these connection methods.
Most email clients support TLS/SSL enabled POP3 and IMAP.
Currently:
POP3 support TLS authentication on port 110.
IMAP4 support TLS authentication on port 143.
POP3S (POP3 over SSL) runs on port 995.
IMAPS (IMAP4 over SSL) runs on port 993.
Plain text authentication is no longer supported. It is only
offered after an encrypted connection has been established.
SMTP – authenticated email delivery.
Server name: mail.gwork.org
Outbound relaying of email can be achieved if a client authenticates first. This must be done over TLS or SSL. Please use the same user name and password which has been created for accessing your mailbox.
Currently the available SMTP ports are as follows:
Standard SMTP port 25 accepts plain text authentication over TLS.
Submission SMTP port 587 accepts plain text authentication over TLS.
Secure submission SMTP port 465 accepts plain text authentication over SSL.
Some email clients do not like certain methods however. The most common
example of this is Outlook. Use port 465 for SMTPS (SMTP over SSL
submission).

For convenience a webmail service is provided which is always available and accessible from anywhere. To login to your email please use the Login boxes provided on the top right of this page.
